2016 Boys’ State Meet Wrap Up

  • The 2016 Iowa State Swimming Meet was FAST!! Waukee claimed their first team title in a highly competitive meet. The Warriors won the 100 yeard Butterfly and had a total of 10 swimmers climb the podium. The Warriors scored 15 times during the meet. They tallied 244 points, followed by Iowa City West with 210 points. Bettendorf took third with 198.5 points. This year's meet produced five state records, 12 automatic All-American swims and 17 All-American consideration times. New state records include:
  • 200 IM: Mark McGlaughlin - 1:46.91
    50 Free: Will Scott - 20.29
    100 Free: Mark McGlaughlin - 43.64
    500 Free: Cameron Kelly - 42:29.96
    200 Free Relay: Mark McGlaughlin, Aidan Keen, Oliver Martin, Will Scott - 1:22.55
  • Congratulations go to State Athlete of the Year, Iowa City West's, Mark McGlaughlin. Mark's two state records were also automatic All-American Swims. On the day, Mark collected four gold medals, three state records, and four All-American swims. Congratulations, Mark! Waukee Coach Dan Briggs and the staff from Waukee were elected State Coaching Staff of the Year.
  • The IHSSCA would liek to thank Carol Hibbs, Director of the Marshalltown Community YMCA, Craig Huegel--MHS athletic director, and athe MANY volunteers that helped put on an excellent state meet.
