2015 Mens' State Meet Wrap-Up

Swimming in the state of Iowa just keeps getting faster!  Iowa City West claimed their second consecutive team title in resounding fashion.The Trojans won seven events and recorded state records in the 200 Medley Relay and the 400 Free Relay .They tallied 180 points, followed by Cedar Rapids Washington with 140 points.West Des Moines Valley took third with 119.5 point. This year’s meet produced 7 automatic All-American swims and 16 All-American consideration times.

Congratulations go to State Athlete of the Year, Muscatine’s Alex Walton.Alex won the 200 Individual Medley in a state record time of 1:49.20. He also took gold in the 100 Backstroke.Both wins garnered automatic All-American status. Iowa City West Coach Rob Miecznikowski and the staff form Iowa City West were elected State Coaching Staff of the Year.

The IHSSCA would like to thanks Carol Hibbs, Director of the Marshalltown Community YMCA, Craig Huegel-MHS athletic director, and the MANY volunteers that helped put on an excellent state meet.
